USCC was founded by Heron Free, M.Ed., RCC, a master therapist and teacher. He is an expert in human development theory and its application in helping people.

Heron has a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Relations and Family Life Education from McGill University. He is a registered clinical counsellor (#1553) with the
BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.

Heron is trained in three complementary fields of psychology: counselling psychology, rehabilitation psychology and health psychology.  He has worked with hundreds of clients and taught numerous classes on personal change and happiness. Heron also trains people in western-style meditation and relaxation.

Heron works as a therapist and urban stress expert in his private practice. He is also the former psychological treatment coordinator for Lifemark Health Centre's Occupational Rehabilitation Program and the former psychological coordinator for Columbia Health Centre's Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Program.

For the past 16 years, Heron has focused on adapting and simplifying the principles of Western psychology, Eastern philosophy and Integrated Health into a more easily understandable framework. To maintain lifestyle balance, Heron is a a runner, rock climber and yoga practitioner. He is also a graphic designer, writer and poet.

Heron has worked with numerous companies including Royal Bank of Canada, BC Paraplegic Association, Ceridian Canada, Business Objects, the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) and Tourism Vancouver.
